ConductColony

ConductCommons and ConductColony

ConductColony runs animal colonies and facilities. ConductCommons runs instruments, services, and lab inventory. Today they share your account and a menu link, and keep their records apart.

Available now

What connects the two today

One account

The same ConductScience account signs you in to ConductCommons and to ConductColony.

A link in the menu

A core can add an Animal facility item to its ConductCommons menu. It opens ConductColony in a new tab.

Both keep working alone

You can use either one without the other. ConductColony needs no ConductCommons workspace or plan, and the reverse.

Kept apart

What does not cross

Records

Animals, cages and tanks, breeding, genotypes, husbandry, and health cases stay in ConductColony. Instruments, reservations, service requests, and inventory stay in ConductCommons. No record moves between them.

Statements

ConductColony issues its own per diem statements. ConductCommons issues statements for instrument sessions, service requests, supplies, and loans. Neither one bills for the other.

People and access

Each has its own members. Belonging to a ConductCommons workspace gives no access to a ConductColony organization, and belonging to one gives no access to a workspace.

From ConductCommons

Open ConductColony from your core

  1. Turn on the menu item

A core manager opens Settings, then Branding and menu, and turns on Animal facility.

  2. Choose Animal facility

It opens ConductColony in a new tab. ConductCommons stays open in the first one.

  3. Sign in once

Use your ConductScience account. If you are already signed in, you go straight in.

The first time you open ConductColony, it creates your ConductColony account from your ConductScience account. That account sees no colony until someone invites you to an organization or you create one.

Stages

What is available and what is planned

A planned stage is not built and has no date. This table changes only when a stage is released.
